This one is low on the ambiance but high on food. They did try with the bamboo walls and the thatched roof but then they put in plastic chairs. But all that evaporates the instant you dig into their non-vegetarian menu which is about the best in town for its price bracket. This is one of the best kathi kababs I have eaten. The mutton was tender and garlicky; the roti was fresh and the accompanying onions and tomatoes crunched between the teeth. I tried the butter chicken (marinated first in yoghurt, then baked in a tandoor and cooked in a tomato curry) and found it could stand comparison to the dabhas on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. Handi meat (mutton cooked in a clay pot) was also quite good. The only problem was the bones. I would have been willing to pay a little more for a boneless option. Of course, bones cooked into a gravy give it a riper, richer flavour. All country cuisine is based on that. But when you're wearing a white shirt, you don't want to be ripping at it with your teeth. No credit cards accepted. Go to Handi, if you believe as we do that the most important thing about a restaurant is its food. Open for lunch between 11:30 am and 3:30 pm and for dinner between 7 pm and 11:30 pm.
